Scuba gear Cancun, buying or renting equipment

scubagear equipment cancun

To bring your own or rent? That is a common question among starter divers. Ive seen everything at dive sites…specially people looking like navy seals ready to hit the water. Ive also seen very experienced divers , specially European folks with very advances equipment…and i think thats great, but brining your own tank is a bit exaggerated don’t you think?

There are so many divers, amateurs that buy everything available at the dive shop, only to hit the water and discover that diving is not for them..so my humble advice is to get experience in the sport, log a couple of dives, and then buy only the necessary. For the its the mask only…maybe a BC.

Cancun is a place where most diver operators take care of their rental equipment, and are getting renewed continually, so you cant trust them. Id rather rent a BC that is getting regular use and is getting maintenance, than having my own sitting in my closet for a year only to discover underwater that it needed a replacement.

I do have a wet suit that cost me 50usd, and at 10usd per day rental, it was paid off easily in 5 days of diving.

For the pros out there, its nice to have mask, fins and diver calculator in insinc via infra red to your BC.  But for the normal guys… theres always rental from you dive operator.
